Description

Guayusa is drunk at dawn by the peoples of the Ecuadorian Amazon, over unhurried conversation and dream interpretation. The leaf contains natural caffeine and theobromine: it energizes steadily and for a long time, without the sharp rise and crash of coffee. The taste is mild, herbal-sweet, with no bitterness at all.

How to brew: 1–2 teaspoons per cup, water at 90°C, steep for 5–7 minutes. Holds up to 2–3 infusions.

Origin: Ecuador, Ilex guayusa leaves, sun-dried.
